Here at Seams Better, we work with brands that empower women through dignified work, help create opportunities for girls' education, and know that women's rights are human rights.

We announced on Giving Tuesday our new (and ongoing) commitment to charity: water, an organization trying to bring clean and safe water to every person on the planet. We have joined "The Spring" and will be donating year round.

From charity: water

771 million people around the globe don't have clean water within a 30 minute round trip from their home. That's nearly 1 in 10 people worldwide. The burden of procuring water falls almost entirely on women and girls. Not only does walking for water keep children out of school or take up time that parents could be using to earn money, but the water often carries diseases that can make everyone sick.

Diseases from dirty water kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. 43% of those deaths are children under five years old. Access to clean water and basic sanitation can save around 16,000 lives every week.

The impact of $1.

According to the World Health Organization, every $1 invested in water (water supply and sanitation combined) provides a $4.30 economic return. In the case of charity: water, 100% of donations goes to funding water projects. They have completely separate private donors that fund all overhead, so you know exactly where your money is going.

We believe so much in this organization that we've added a donation option to our Better Box subscriptions. When you sign up for a Better Box, you can now opt in for a $1 quarterly donation to charity: water, and we will match it.
